Preparation

Ways that 9 year-old son, Aaron, psyches up for big baseball games:

* Wear different colored socks (red and black) and pull baseball pants up to knees to show off the colors.

* Rub Bed Head coconut smelling hair creme into buzz cut to make ends spikey even though he will wear a baseball cap or batting helmet the entire game.

* Go number two.

* Listen to Lee Greenwood’s version of “The Star Spangled Banner” as many times as he can until his sister yells at him to turn it off.

    I’m chuckling at item #3. A good number two goes beyond mere psyching up and is the preferred coping strategy of most software developers I know. :)

    Holly!

    This is a start to a middle grade novel!!!!

  3. Holly says:

    Mindy,

    Thank you for that observation! You may be right, and it may be a start to a new novel, but when you said that, I immediately got inspired to incorporate it somehow into my current novel. I’ve been stalled on my current novel for a few weeks now, but reading your words gives me new life.

    Ya think it’s time for me to bring something to our writing group? ;)

    Tim,

    We’d better not let A or K read our blogs until they’re thirty. :) They’ll never forgive us!

  5. Tim Elhajj says:

    Thirty? More like fifty!

  6. Mindy says:

    Yes! I think it’s your turn for writing group!!!!!!
